Olympic Students Witness History

January 20, 2009

On January 20, 2009, the entire Olympic community gathered together in our Multi-Purpose Room to witness the historic inauguration of President Barak Hussein Obama. As Olympic and Alliance students and staff took seats to watch the event on two televisions on either side of the large room, a reverent silence fell over the crowd. Response to the powerful messages of the inaugural speech and benediction received cheers and applause. All listened intently. We are proud and grateful that together, we recognized the significance of President Obama’s role as the first African American President. On January 20, we shared a profound moment in history, and celebrated in a quiet, respectful way as we imagined a future of hope, justice and peace.
